What does the Secret Design Studio do?

We are a design-focused building consultancy. We are passionate about quality residential design. We collect 20th Century chairs. We champion mid century modern architecture with an irregular blog.

We can consult, design, assess, advise and even negotiate with third parties on your behalf. We are happy to work with your ideas and concepts, or your builders plans, or even your architect’s plans, and we are very good at doing our own designs.

We have years of design experience, and have worked for some of the biggest builders in Australia. The services offered are far more extensive than that offered by an architectural practice, and much more engaged with the building process.

We have had years of experience preparing town planning applications, and working alongside some of the best town planners in Melbourne, although we are not town planners.
We are not a construction business, although we have had years of experience employed by builders, engaged by builders and building ourselves.

Mid-Century Modern Architecture

While we are experienced enough to work with any 20th century building, our passion is for Mid-Century Modern houses - the "retro" homes of the 1950's through to the 1970's. From designing a sympathetic renovation, addition or extension, to designing a new home in a mid-century modern style, Secret Design Studio can help.
